Michael D. Smith appointed as Chief of Client Services Unit

Carson City, NV - April 18, 2024

The State of Nevada Office of the Governor, Office of the Chief Information Officer has announced Michael D. Smith as the new Chief of Client Services Unit.

Having previously been in the Interim Chief after the lateral promotion of Jason Benshoof to the new position of Chief Data Officer, Michael served as the IT Manager for the Service Management group, the direct line of communication for all partner agencies that utilize the Office of the Chief Information Officer for IT solutions in the Executive Branch.

Michael has served in various roles in the Office of The Chief Information Officer since 2016 when it was EITS. Michael’s experience with customer service for various retail chains prior to working for the State of Nevada and the wealth of leadership and management he has attained since beginning his career in state service motivates him to initiate a culture shift in the customer experience with partner agencies.

Michael received his Master of Science in Information Technology Management from Western Governor’s University in 2021 and his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Chapman University.
