Office 365

Responsibilities

The Office 365 (O365) group within EITS is responsible for onboarding and supporting State-wide Office 365 application. The O365 group is split into two sub-teams that each have specific roles within the overall O365 group to form a single collaborative team which supports the entire State initiative along with providing insight and recommendations to the Office 365 Governance Committee.

    Office 365 Email Team

This team is more commonly known throughout agencies as the Phase 1 team. This team is responsible for migrating and licensing agencies that are transitioning from on-premise applications to the cloud environment. Specific applications include: O365 licensing, Email (Exchange and Outlook), and Skype for Business. This team also provides delegated training with our virtual tenant product called Coreview which enhances what each agency can control within their Office 365 product environment including managing teams, MFA, one drive, sharepoint, mobile devices, and audit reports.

      Office 365 Communications Team

The Communications team, or Phase 2 team introduces agencies to the O365 applications that are used for day to day operations. The O365 applications rolled out by this team include: Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, as well as providing applications training and support. To supplement onsite or remote training, the team provides access and support to the state-wide training/change management system known QuickHelp, which provides short, thorough training videos to enhance the knowledge of all users of the state’s Office 365 products and applications.

Together, both teams form a single collaborative team that supports the entire state initiative. Both teams also provide insight and recommendations to the Office 365 Governance Committee.

          The Enterprise Directory Service team

The Enterprise Directory Service Team (identity team) within the “server group” is responsible for Enterprise level Active Directory, Domain Name Systems, Group Policy and the Azure Cloud identity systems. The team assists agencies on migrating user/group active directory accounts between statewide domains and into the statewide forest. The Enterprise Directory Service team works directly with the O365 team during agency migration to Office 365.
