File Naming Conventions
General rules to remember when saving and naming your files for uploading to Ektron:
Use only dashes (-) or underscores (_) in the file name and no spaces or other special characters.
When deciding whether to use a date in the file name, examine the file and determine if the file is likely to be replaced or revised before adding the date to the name.
If the date is to be used as an identifying part of the file or is needed for revision tracking such as with meeting agenda or minutes, or dated newsletters, then definitely use them.
If you are naming a form or file that is likely to be revised next year or even next month and you will be replacing it because of updated fee amounts or letterhead changes, or expiration dates of application submissions, etc., it is good practice to keep the file name as generic as possible so that the file can be overwritten easily and links will never break on the site.
