File Sizes & Types Accepted in Ektron

File Size Limits

Ektron has a file size limit of 200MBs. The Web Enterprise Group does not recommend uploading any file larger than 50MB as anything larger may impact website page load speed, can provide a poor user experience or a complete inability to download the file or view the page for users who are on slower internet services like dial up connections.

We recommend placing large files on a non‐Ektron server and linking to it from Ektron as the file size may impact how long it takes for each sync to complete.

      Document File Types

csv, .doc, .docx, .pdf, .pps, .ppsx, .ppt, .pptx, .xlsm, .xls, .xlsx

NOTE:  PDF Portfolio documents are not recommended because Adobe removed the Flash Player plug-in from Acrobat and Reader.  PDF Portfolio documents require a user to download a stand-alone Flash Player. In addition, most PDF Portfolio's do not meet the Accessibility requirements of Section 508 or WCAG 2.0 and WCAG 2.1.

It is not recommended to post documents in any format that requires a user to download and install additional software on their computer.

What Type of Content Block Should Be Used When Adding an Image to different template areas?

Whether inserting a graphic on the homepage to the right of the slide or on a secondary template page in the body or in the left or right sidebars always use an HTML Content Block to avoid extra space above and below the image.

You cannot add an image directly to an area using metadata.  You must place the image in a content block or smart form and then add that to metadata.

                    Common Image/Graphic Size Requirements

My graphic (image) has too much space before and after it. What can I do?

If you use one of the smart forms that allow you to add an image, it will have to much spacing before and after the graphic. Create your graphic in an HTML content block with no space above or below the image.

Photos, Videos, Twitter & Facebook (Social Media)

iframes work well in Ektron for a variety of elements.
